Bangkok's Best Tailors and Bespoke Suit Makers

Tailor shops are a dime a dozen in Bangkok. There are literally hundreds of them, ranging from the very cheap to the very expensive.

To help you distinguish the best from the rest, here are the top three places to go to for bespoke tailoring in Bangkok.

1. Pinky Tailor - A Cut Above The Rest

Growing from a small, single-story shophouse in 1980 to the mini-empire it is today, Pinky Tailor is a legend in Bangkok. Ignore the retro suit pictures that hang in the window and have been faded by the sun and step inside for rows and rows of fine Italian wool and high-quality fabrics.

Clients will be fitted by Pinky himself, or his son Win, and given personal help selecting every detail, from fabric to buttons and colorful linings made from Thai silk. Pinky is old school, which is part of his charm. His pencil measurements and bookkeeping would be indecipherable to outsiders, but his spot-on tailoring has earned him an impeccable reputation among Bangkok’s most fashionable gents.

Appointments recommended. Suits starting at 15,000 baht.

Hours: Monday-Saturday, 10am-7:30pm; Sunday, by appointment only

2. Tailor on Ten - Drink a Beer, Order a Stylish Suit

Tailor on Ten is a bespoke tailor owned by Canadian brothers Alex and Ben Cole. They have established themselves as the go-to suit makers for trendy Bangkokians and the stylish ambassador crowd. Grab a cold beer and shop their designer fabrics in the elegantly restored house. Their tailors specialize in the latest styles, and their shirts and suits fit like a glove, but the on-site team of tailors requires several fittings, so it’s best to have three to five days in Bangkok. Not sure what to do in Bangkok while you wait? Check out some of the city's hidden gems.

The Cole brothers developed an iPad app that helps clients visualize the final product. From the button selections to thread color or the size of the lapels and monogramming, Tailor on Ten nails the details.

Appointments required. Suits starting at 13,500 baht.

Address: Near Nana station #93 Sukhumvit Road 8 ขุมขมเปรมฤทัย Bangkok 10110, Thailand

3. Siam Emporium - The Finest Indian Tailored Suits

The strip between the BTS stops Nana and Asok is the epicenter for tailors offering package deals and jaw-dropping prices for a new wardrobe. Behind those discounts is shoddy sewing and mismarked fabrics, but Siam Emporium is the exception. In fact, Siam Emporium is one of the best tailor shops in Bangkok.

Inderjit and Jatinder at Siam Emporium are the real deal and have been serving Bangkok since 1976. Trained in classic Indian tailoring techniques, the tailors source their upscale materials from around the world, and they’re pros at crafting lightweight seersucker or linen suits that are ideal for businessmen in town looking to beat the heat. Bonus: their website is modern, unlike many other tailors in town, and clients can reorder clothes online and design suits without another trip to Thailand.

Walk-ins are often available. Suits starting 11,000 baht.
